BC Highway Reinstatement Program – Highway 5
The Highway 5 (3 bridges) project was executed via an Alliance contract and included the design and construction of six new permanent bridge structures, two temporary bridges and associated 4.5 km of highway reconstruction of the Coquihalla Highway.
5L063 Telkwa Relocation (Bulbous Toe Section) Project
After 7 years of design and construction, the project moved 2.4 km of a radial transmission line out of the path of the Bulbous Toe Landslide to increase reliability and reduce safety risks of a line that serves a large region in northwest BC.
Vancouver Airport Fuel Delivery Project

A novel seismic assessment methodology was utilized on the New St. Paul’s Hospital providing the Owner insight into post-earthquake performance and resilience of the structure and all its equipment, including estimated repair costs and repair times.
North Surrey Interceptor No. 2 – Preliminary Design
GHD designed 830m long 2.7m diameter tunnel with a 2.4m x 2.4m box culvert supported on piles for Metro Vancouver, which addressed liquifiable soils, artesian groundwater pressures, in a dense urban setting with environmentally sensitive areas.

Highway 1 Malahat Tunnel Hill Washout
The November 2021 extreme rainfall event overwhelmed drainage, resulting in local failure to a wall supporting Highway 1. McElhanney and Thurber mobilized immediately and worked together to restore this crucial highway link on an expedited schedule.
