Pia Abercromby, P.Eng., ENV SP

Project Manager / Bridge Engineer, McElhanney

Supremely organized, professional, and thoughtful, Pia is a key member of the McElhanney team known for her commitment to client success and community engagement. A highly engaged member of ACEC-BC since moving to Canada from New Zealand in 2015, she led the ACEC-BC Young Professionals Group through the first year of the pandemic, quickly transitioning to fully virtual operations including the first fully virtual ACEC-BC conference.

Joining a relatively new bridge engineering division at McElhanney, Pia quickly established herself as a strong technical practitioner, and played an important role in building the culture and reputation of the group. Her commitment to principles of sustainability led her to achieve registration as an Envision Certified Professional, supporting her contribution as a key team member for sustainable design and Envision projects at McElhanney.

An active volunteer, in addition to her long-term commitment with ACEC-BC’s Young Professionals Group, Pia initiated and is the inaugural Chair of the ACEC-BC Sustainability and Climate Change Committee. Her volunteerism extends beyond our Association, as an organizer and contributor to community projects at home and abroad including her service as logistics coordinator for the Kibembe Bridge Build in Uganda through Bridges to Prosperity.
