Joe Braun, P.Eng.

Partner, Flow Engineering

Joe Braun is known by many in the consulting engineering community as someone who is precise, exceptionally polite, and fond of Kokanee beer. Spend a little more time with him, however, and it quickly becomes clear why the awards jury recognized him as an exceptional young leader who brings the same focus and energy to building community as he does to his technical practice.

Joe’s fascination with the built environment began at an early age. Curious by nature, he spent his childhood taking apart toys and household items and, most of the time, putting them back together again.

Joe joined Flow Engineering in 2016, where he began building both his technical practice and his appreciation for the role engineering plays in everyday life.

Today, Joe is a Professional Engineer and Partner at Flow Engineering, recognized for solving complex problems through simple and innovative ideas. His work is highly regarded by both clients and peers and was recognized with an ASHRAE BC Technology Award for resolving a persistent pressurization and stack effect issue in a Vancouver high-rise tower.

Beyond his technical accomplishments, Joe dedicates significant time to supporting the broader engineering community. He serves as Chair of the ACEC-BC Future Leaders Network and is a leader with the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Vancouver Branch. His volunteer experience also includes formal mentoring and community engagement with organizations such as the Vancouver Pride Society and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

Joe has shared that consulting engineering is not simply his career, but his community. It is a perspective that reflects the meaningful convergence of his professional work, friendships, hobbies, and commitment to giving back.

About the Award

Core to the strength of our industry is the diversity of our people and our commitment to engage, develop, and recognize the contributions of practitioners at all stages of their career.

ACEC-BC benefits from the active participation of young professionals across the province, who work with us to inform and advise, and whose leadership by example shows us all how to build an inclusive community.
