Aleem Nawla, P.Eng.
Project Manager, Stantec
Having demonstrated a consistent and enthusiastic commitment to achieving results in his technical practice, Aleem looked at his community and decided that there was more he could do to contribute to engage others in his profession. Inspired at age nine to pursue a career in engineering following a school field trip to a local wastewater treatment facility, Aleem knew that engaging and inspiring the next generation requires consistent outreach and opportunity to learn.
After receiving his Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Aleem joined the City of Edmonton’s engineering team before relocating to Kelowna to join Stantec. Once there, Aleem joined Stantec’s internal Developing Professionals Group, and pursued external opportunities for community engagement by volunteering with his regional branch of Engineers and Geoscientists BC, participating in school outreach on the North Island, and supporting outreach to UBC Okanagan. Through these activities and more, Aleem shares his passion for engineering and supports career progression for the next generation of consulting engineers.
Beyond engineering, Aleem is an active community volunteer supporting resettlement of refugees from Afghanistan and providing resume and interview support to underemployed people in the region.
Focussing on construction, Aleem’s technical practice includes contributing to several notable projects including emergency remediation on Highway 8 following the 2021 Atmospheric River event. His personal interest in remotely piloted aircraft has not only led to completion of his Pilot Certificate in Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft, but supported him to propose, build, and lead a UAV photography group supporting Stantec construction projects across the province.
